Good morning, and Merry Christmas! My name is Mary and I will be writing some blog posts on our website as time allows. My husband, Matt, is the store manager here at Jack & Dick's! Although winter seems to have arrived with the very-chilly weather we're experiencing today and tomorrow, I hope your hearts are still warm and hopeful this season! Despite such a stressful year for so many people, there is always something for which we can be thankful. When I'm not handling social media and marketing tasks at the feed store, I spend my time being a freelance journalist and photographer. I write for several publications - some local, some with international audiences - and also work for agriculture organizations around the state. Matt and I live on the west side of Janesville with our two dogs, Bella, a four-year-old rat terrier, and Chief, a nine-month-old rescue from Houston (DNA results pending). If you follow us on Facebook, you've surely seen posts from Chief himself...we love our critters! We all hope you enjoy this beautiful Christmas season and are able to count your blessings! From the Jack & Dick's family to your family, MERRY CHRISTMAS! ~Let your faith be stronger than your fear. Hebrews 13:6
At Jack & Dick's we pride ourselves on selling our customers only the highest-quality feed and related products. That means we need to foster long-lasting relationships with our vendors built on trust and the shared expectation of good business ethics and high-quality products. If any of these aspects of the professional relationship begin to falter, we immediately re-evaluate our situation to see where we can improve. One relationship we've fostered that does not relate to livestock feed or bird feeders is that of our maple syrup supplier. Skarda Maple Farms, operated by brothers Andy and Jeff Skarda, is a company that produces fresh, high-quality maple syrup from the family farm near Denmark, Wisconsin, where the brothers grew up. The Skarda brothers' grandfather, George Skarda, wished for the land to be kept in the Skarda name in future generations, so Andy and Jeff decided to build a log cabin on the property using as much product directly from the farm as possible. Tapping maple trees for syrup came shortly after as a way to help make the farm self-sustaining. The Skarda brothers and their families are proud of the work they do on their family farm. They're pleased to offer several high-quality products including syrup, sugar, crumble, candy and cream. They also build log furniture made from trees on the farm. Here at Jack & Dick's we sell 8-ounce, 16-ounce and 32-ounce bottles of Skarda Maple Farms syrup and the 4-ounce bottle of maple sugar. We can tell you, from our personal experience, this syrup is absolutely delicious! Andy and Jeff don't use any food coloring, as many larger syrup producers do to keep the color consistent, so the lighter-colored bottles are from early in the season while the darkest-colored bottles came from taps later in the season. Syrup is not only used to soak into your pancakes, waffles or French toast sticks in the morning. It can also be useful in recipes and when creating your own meals. Please stop in today to check out our selection of delightful maple syrup products from Skarda Maple Farms! These items make great gifts, are wonderful for your own uses and are a taste sensation!
